Frequently Asked Questions
I live on the Kenai Peninsula, will you travel to me? If you are in the Central Kenai Peninsula area (Nikiski, Kenai, Soldotna, Kasilof, Sterling), then yes! I do not currently travel to communities outside of the ones listed above, but can train via online sessions!
I don't have any equipment. Is that a problem? No. If needed for your assessment, I do have equipment that I can travel with. When it comes to developing your program, there's a lot of exercises you can do with body weight! If you're open to purchasing equipment, then that may be a convo we have, but it is not a requirement to work with me.
How far into postpartum can I work with you? Postpartum is for life! Whether your baby is a few weeks old, or your children have grown, I can help create a training program to meet your unique needs.
What should I expect for an Assessment? First, we'll go over your intake form, medical and prenatal histories, and previous sports/fitness experiences. We'll then move into physical assessment part. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you can easily move around in. We'll look at posture, movement patterns (i.e. squat, lunge, etc) and/or any other movements you've noticed to cause discomfort. After your assessment is complete, we'll discuss if a consult with a Pelvic Floor Physical therapist is recommended, training options, and next steps moving forward.
Does Kenai Core Fitness replace Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy? Absolutely not. Our local PF PTs are amazing, and are highly skilled in their areas of expertise. If symptoms are noted during your assessment that may need further evaluation, then I will strongly encourage you to request a referral for PF PT. If you are currently working with a PF PT or will be and want to train with Kenai Core Fitness, then my approach is to come alongside your PF PT and create a training program that works with your therapy. I will help translate your therapy to match your training needs. Example: You currently work with a PF PT for stress incontinence w/sneezing or coughing, and you're a running athlete. I will create a training program that works alongside your therapy restrictions/activities to continue to help you train for your running events with strength, agility, plyometrics, and more.
